My father is John Conklin, 1921-2004. I am so touched to see these. He was such a close friend of Harold’s and they were great friends in Minatare, NE. I remember hearing about Harold throughout Dad’s life. Harold would have been friends with my mother Betty Sue as well, she and dad met when they were 6 and 7 years old. I have a wonderful photo Dad took probably a selfie, or maybe Harold took it of Dad in Saipan, with a sign reading: “Beneath these portholes pass the fastest men in the world.”
