Love,
Dear Folks:
Happened in a drugstore so will send a card. A pretty town in the hills. Tell Katie my address. Just sent a letter so not much to write about. Going to Bend, Ore. Tomorrow. Will write then.
Love,
[illegible] in town with real hospitality. Having a dance tonite. Just got in good shows in the hi-school. Can’t get over the cold weather, snow and a cold breeze. Tomorrow nite will be in Vancouver our destination, covered 291 miles today. People are swell here and the town is very quaint. Will write tomorrow.
Love,
Dear Folks:
Just found out a little while ago I’m leaving for Camp Roberts in California. We leave tonight at six o’clock on a troop train. Understand this is about 230 [miles] from Grandma. Hate to go so far from home and all of you. A little consolation is that out of my group of four hundred eighty men I was one of three to get a skilled rating. Will write on the way.
Love,
Dear Mom,
Just got in Cheyenne after a hell of a dirty ride. Played cards on my way over. Waiting for bus to fort.
More later,
